Software Engineer - Computational Infrastructure
Summary:
Within the Computational Infrastructure group, the successful candidate for this position will be responsible for identifying data and workflow solutions to support Epix Pharmaceuticals drug discovery research.
Primary Responsibilities:
The candidate will explore ways to streamline data and decision-making aspects of the computational discovery process. Work with scientists and other software developers in support of existing internal research applications, assess requirements for new applications, participate in software design with emphasis on interface issues and understanding of research workflow, provide testing support for internal research applications, train and support scientists on internal and commercial research applications and make necessary changes/redesign of corporate databases (Oracle) to maintain high quality information. This position will not involve coding of new internal research applications/algorithm development, but will focus on coding of workflow management interfaces for existing algorithms.
Qualifications include:
- Minimum of Bachelor's Degree with concentration in Computer Science, Physical or Life Sciences, or engineering; experience in Cheminformatics a plus.
- 2 years experience in at least three of the following: C++, Visual Basic (6 or .net), Perl, Shell Scripting, Java, SQL, PL/SQL
- Experience in GUI Design and Implementation
- Logical Design of Databases - an advantage
- Experience working with and supporting internal and/or commercial scientific applications - an advantage
- Understanding of the Software Development Life Cycle
- Teamwork capabilities, multi-tasking and ability to work under strict timelines are mandatory.
- Academic or industrial experience is required.
