Associate Director/Director of Computational Infrastructure
Summary
Provides leadership for all computational infrastructure. Position includes maintenance of the current workflow management tools and the strategic re-design of the computational infrastructure as well as its implementation and maintenance.
Primary Responsibilities
- Support the current workflow management tools.
- Lead the design of the computational infrastructure at EPIX Israel.
- Implement and maintain the computational infrastructure.
- Maintain database(s) that support computational chemistry drug discovery activities (including upgrades, recompilation, and archiving).
- Improve / redesign systems and software for the integration of computational models and processes.
- Implement resource management tools and processes to ensure the efficient use of computational hardware and software capacities.
- Manage software licenses and applications in collaboration with global IT function, including tracking, upgrades, QA tests, releases.
- Manage scientific documentations (papers, protocols, training material, other scientific documents)
- Provide a source control mechanism to all in-house generated code
- Provide leadership to the scientific infrastructure group.
- Work within the Matrix environment to ensure the smooth interaction with the global IT teams in both the Israel and Lexington sites.
- Work closely with the global IT group to define HW requirements to support the Infrastructure project.
- Manage interactions with external software providers.
- Provide software asset management.
- Work in close collaboration with the scientists at the Israel site to ensure optimal performance and support of the computational infrastructure in the drug discovery process.
- Responsible for participating in relevant scientific/IT forums, and for the establishment of new forums as required.
- Provide training to the scientific team on Infrastructure and related policies.
Budget
Responsible for submitting and tracking budget requirements related to the scientific infrastructure
Supervisory
- Responsible for managing the Computational Infrastructure group
- Responsible for managing one or more scientific programmers
- Responsible for managing the interactions with external consultants
Work Skills
- Team player with demonstrated experience working on and/or leading cross-functional teams
- Demonstrated hands-on approach, willing to do whatever it takes to get the job done
- Good verbal and written communication skills (both Hebrew and English)
- Self starter with demonstrated competency setting up and defining new systems and processes
Requirements
- A scientific academic degree in a relevant field (Ph.D. an advantage)
- Over 5 years of experience in an integrated scientific/IT environment (industrial experience an advantage)
- Proven management skills
- Good communication (written and verbal) skills in Hebrew and Englis
